  2. In place of and superseding a 4th edition of Letters from Italy, this book incorporates Starke’s second trip to the continent (May 1817-June 1819). From 1824, it was augmented and published under the title of Information and Directions for Travellers on the Continent, denominated on the title page as the 5th edition (of Letters from Italy). Starke continued to enlarge this book, which appeared only once more (Paris1839) under Travels on the Continent.
